Improvements of a basic design
The main construction of the guillotine has always been the same since it’s invention in 1792 until the abbolision of the deathpenalty in 1981. But changes and improvements were made.
The major improvements were made in 1871, when Berger an executiones assistent changed the design of the guillotine to it’s final construction.
